Which team will win Baltic Handball League 2020?
Baltic Handball League
The new season of Baltic Handball League is approaching fast and starts on 2 September. Not only has the system changed and several new clubs joining the league, today we are happy to introduce the new logo of the competition before the 2020/21 season begins next Wednesday.
The Baltic Handball League season is still a little more than a week away, but HC Dragunas Klaipeda has already won two trophies. Nine-time Lithuanian champion triumphed in two pre-season international tournaments without losing a match, winning all nine games in Klaipeda and Alytus.
The club may have lost some positions in recent years, but HC Kehra/Horizon Pulp&Paper is still the most successful Estonian side in Baltic Handball League with three trophies in their club house. Furthermore, together with their domestic rival Serviti Põlva, they are the only two teams, who are about to start their 20th consecutive season in BHL.
The youngest club in the Baltic Handball League, having not yet got out of its "teenage" years is VHC Šviesa Vilnius. However, in less than 20 years the club has already established itself in the elite of the region. Šviesa has finished third in BHL, won three Lithuanian cups and had some success in European competitions.
Big and famous name in the Baltic handball landscape, Celtnieks Riga has slowly, but surely been getting closer to success in recent years. Latvian title was won in 2017 and last season the place in the Baltic Handball League quarter-finals was only lost in the final weekend. Celtnieks has retained all the key players from last season and is setting high targets for 2020/21.
Making its debut back in 2002, Viljandi HC has been a regular participant of Baltic Handball League since 2014. Twice a quarter-finalist and a bronze-medallist of the second-tier Baltic Challenge League, the club is looking to make a step forward again after few seasons of modest results.
